Field of Study 27 Transport

Specialty (Program Subject Area) 273 Railway transport

Specializing study program – Railway structures and track facilities

1

Specializing study program “Railway structures and track facilities” offers the graduate a broad perspective and gives the right to choose the future work, which involves the introduction of high-tech computer technologies in the management and operation of the railway infrastructure, the construction of high-speed lines and the rebuilding of existing railways, information monitoring systems for the maintenance of the track and engineering structures. This specializing study program allows the graduate to take full advantage of the gained knowledge in design and research organizations, in public and private firms through computer mathematical modelling in developing and creating new designs, technologies optimization, formulating and solving of research tasks. The railroad is the basis of the country’s rail transport; apparently, because of it, the profession of railroad builder is the most important link that provides the necessary conditions for the railway to fulfil its main task – the transportation of goods and passengers.

Specialists of this specializing study program can realize their potential in the construction industry, in railway transport while designing, constructing, rebuilding and maintaining engineering structures and railway track.

Specializing study program – Carriages and carriage facilities

2

Students specializing in “Carriages and Carriage Facilities” traditionally are trained as qualified specialists for the car-building and car-repairing undertakings, guided by problems arising during the creation, operation and repair of passenger and freight cars, isothermal rolling stock, refrigerated containers, transport energy-refrigeration systems and air conditioning systems. This is especially relevant at the present time when the construction of transport corridors in Europe-Asia is planned, which will pass through the territory of Ukraine and which will be serviced by the rolling stock of Western European and Asian countries.

Graduates of the specializing study program “Carriages and Carriage Facilities” are invited to work in branches and specialized divisions of the industry, research institutes of railway transport, transport and logistics companies, service centres and subsidiaries of railways. Our graduates are undergoing operational, technological and pre-diploma practical training at the basic undertakings of Ukrzaliznytsia with the further employment and prospects of career growth.

Specializing study program – Locomotives and locomotive facilities

3

Which transport is most productive today? The most wide-scale? The most accurate? The safest? The most comfortable (at least, can be that)? It’s all – RAILWAY TRANSPORT! And today it becomes even the most ecological (electric locomotives, electric trains) and the most high-speed. The latter becomes clear if one takes into account the total time that a passenger spends on a trip, for example, by an airplane or electric train TGV with a speed of 360 km / h.

Ukrainian railways are undergoing great positive changes today. New modern computerized electric and diesel locomotives, high-speed electric trains, automated control and diagnostic systems, which began to be implemented by Ukrzaliznytsia, require skilled engineering staff. Therefore, the Ukrainian railways for specialists are a guarantee of reliable, stable and high paying work.

Specialty “Railway Transport” according to the specializing study program “Locomotives and locomotive facilities” has a wide range of universal qualifications. A graduate of the specializing study program acquires basic knowledge and practical skills in the organization of service technologies, diagnostics and maintenance of traction rolling stock of railway, power plants, electric machines, and microprocessor-based control systems.

Specializing study program – Technologies of maintenance of engineering structures and premises

4

The need for training specialists on this specializing study program is due to the fact that over the years of the construction industry in Ukraine, a huge fund of buildings has been created, which requires constant supervision, repair and rebuilding for their safe existence. Students of this specializing study program receive knowledge and practical experience in the field of new technologies for the service and maintenance of residential and industrial buildings and engineering structures and premises of transport.

Professional competencies acquired by the students provide drilling for deep diagnostics of technical condition of building objects, error-free prediction of their durability, maximum detection and use of residual resources, restoration and maintenance of necessary bearing capacity of structures by non-traditional means – without replacement and without significant expenses. Graduates who qualify in this specializing study program can work at enterprises of the construction industry of different forms of ownership, as well as in railway transport undertakings and infrastructure facilities of Ukraine. The construction industry is the most powerful industry in the country, which is developing rapidly, using modern technologies. That is why the specialists of this specializing study program always have high demand from employers.

Field of Study 14 Electrical engineering

141 Electric Power industry, Electric Engineering and Electro-mechanics

Specializing study program – Electric transport

5

The most up-to-date ground transportation systems around the world are based on electric transport, which is the fastest, most convenient, environmentally friendly, economical and safe. Today’s electric transport is dominant in terms of passenger and freight transportation. Electric transport consumes electric energy, whose supplies are inexhaustible, taking into account the latest technologies of alternative energy.

Students of the specializing study program “Electric transport” acquire knowledge and qualify for the design, adjustment, and service of electric machines, vehicles, traction converters, electronic equipment, microprocessor-based control and diagnostic systems. They study principles of creation and adjustment of the automated systems controlling the electric drive systems – “the auto-driver”.

Graduates of the specializing study program “Electric transport” have advantages in employment in the “Ukrainian high-speed railway company”, on the subway, enterprises for the service and operation of railway and city electric transport, repair and maintenance of electric vehicles.

Field of Study 15 Automation and Instrumentation

151 Automation and Computer-integrated technologies

Specializing study program – Automated technological communication systems

6

In the modern era of information technologies, the development of telecommunication services is so rapid that the need for professionals in this profile grows every year. This sector is the most modern, diverse and one of the most growing sectors of the Ukrainian economy. This is confirmed by the fact that in recent years the Ukrainian telecommunications market has increased by more than 2 thousand telecommunications operators licensed by the telecoms industry and more than 1,500 new providers of access to the Internet. In addition, almost 13% of the average number of employees in the services sector are the specialists working in the field of information technology. From 2015, enterprises of this industry in the dynamics of growth of foreign direct investment in our country have come in the first place. The importance of this specializing study program is also indicated by the fact that in 2018, the number of mobile subscribers in Ukraine reached 57.5 million users, and its penetration in the country is 126%.

The employment of our graduates is provided at the undertakings of the transport industry, in the companies providing Internet services and mobile communication services, at the enterprises of the IT industry.

Specializing study program – Computer-based information and control systems

7

Mass implementation of information technologies in the railway transport of Ukraine requires adequate staffing.

The training of specialists on this specializing study program is aimed at studying computer and microprocessor systems of railway transport, information-control systems, technological and production processes for servicing passengers. Much attention is paid to studying the basic issues of systems for ensuring traffic safety and diagnosing equipment, studying contemporary programming languages (JavaScript, Python, Ruby, C ++, etc.) at the student’s choice.

University graduates of this specializing study program work on the positions of engineers of divisions, chief engineers, distance managers, in information and computer centres of railways (electromechanical engineer, programmer engineer), in design and research institutions (engineer-designer or engineer-researcher of computer-based control systems at stations and sections), as well as in other institutions and departments of the field of software design, organization and construction of databases, microprocessor-based devices of the general and special purposes, development of technical means of computerized integrated systems.

Specializing study program – Automation and computer-based systems for controlling the trains movement

8

Graduates of the specializing study program receive basic knowledge and training, which allows them to deal with the design and maintenance of automation systems for various technological processes. Students master the principles of building and upgrading modern information management systems, systems of transport automation, bases of their operation and repair.

Microprocessor-based devices, the bases of computer-integrated control, systems of automation and telemechanics on sections and stations, systems of electric centralization, tracking sensors of control systems are studied in the disciplines of professional training. The acquired knowledge and skills, in particular, on the operation and design of modern automation and control systems, will be useful not only in the field of rail transport but also in other areas related to the automation of transport systems.

Graduates of this specializing study program are in great demand at the undertakings of Ukrzaliznytsia, subways and “Ukrainian railway high-speed company”.
