The European Commission has unveiled a new «Horizon 2020» Work Program that covers fiscal years 2018, 2019 and 2020 and provides funding of around € 30 billion.
«Horizon 2020» – is the European Union’s most comprehensive research and innovation framework. Participation in this program provides an opportunity for scientists, researchers, representatives of small and medium-sized businesses to carry out advanced research, implement innovative ideas, contribute not only to the development of the economy of their country, but also to create a better future for the planet.
«Horizon 2020» is an “open to the whole world” program and offers great prospects both for participants from EU member states, associated countries, and for researchers, universities, research organizations, companies, non-governmental organizations from other countries of the world. The current Work includes thirty flagship initiatives with a budget of over 1 billion euros with individual countries.
Also, the new «Horizon 2020» Work Program is aimed at:
- supporting innovations that create markets;
- support for the political priorities of the EC (low-carbon, climate-resilient future, circular economy, digitization and transformation of European industry and services, security, migration);
- strengthening inter-scientific research, “interesting” science (“frontier research”, “curiosity-driven science”, “blue sky science”);

We remind you that in 2015 Ukraine became an associate member of the European Union’s Framework Program for Research and Innovation «Horizon 2020». This significantly expanded our opportunities for participation in the program, in particular, increased access to financial instruments, and Ukraine can now influence the formation of the content of the program.
